20-21 School Year and COVID-19 Information
Briggs School is pleased to announce that students will have three attendance options for the 2020-2021 school year due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Option 1 is the traditional on-site attendance (8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.). Option 2 is a blended attendance model with students attending on-site for part of the day and the remainder conducted virtually (via technology) at home. Option 3 is full-time virtual attendance with the student remaining at home and learning via technology. Teachers will continue to guide/monitor student learning in the virtual settings.
The first day for students is August 13, 2020. All students will be provided with a technology device for continuous learning in the event of a school closure. During a school closure, instruction will shift to a virtual format using the technology devices. To prepare for possible school closure and virtual learning, the initial days of the school year will utilize in-depth technology aided instruction to familiarize staff and students with the virtual learning process.
In addition to technology devices, Briggs plans to provide connectivity through digital hotspots for those families who don’t have internet access. In some circumstances, a hotspot may not be feasible due to the lack or weakness of a digital/cellular signal. We will work to make accommodations for those without connectivity.
This is a huge undertaking and commitment for Briggs School. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition as there will be many bumps in the road during the implementation of virtual learning. As always, our first concern is for our students and families. Our goal is to achieve success for all students.
