Success For All
Success for All
This school year is bringing lots of changes to Briggs! One change is our Success for All reading program! The Success for All (SFA) reading program is built around a cooperative-learning framework that engages students in rich discussion and motivating challenges every day. Lessons are enriched with multimedia examples, puppet skits, and videos that keep the focus on fun and learning. Classroom resources and detailed lesson plans guide effective instruction. Skill development and application are reinforced through positive peer interaction and student feedback which results in rapid achievement in reading.
In Success for All schools, all teachers of grades 1st-8th teach reading for ninety minutes at the same time every day. During this time, students move to reading classes in which every student is reading at one or two instructional levels in the same classroom. This cross-grade, cross-class grouping increases teacher-led instructional time and reduces seat work, thereby accelerating student progress in the development of individual reading skills. Each grading period, students are placed in a reading class at their individual instructional levels.
Please talk to your child about what is happening in their reading class and remember your child’s presence every day is extremely important for a successful implementation of this reading program.
