Congratulations Blaklee Jones ! She represented Briggs 4-H well at the Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show by winning reserve grand champion with her heifer and junior showmanship grand champion.

Cherokee Nation Tribal Council members Codey Poindexter and Candessa Tehee recently donated to Briggs Boys & Girls Club. We appreciate the positive impact the council members have on our students.

The PickleBotz attended the Bixby Battle of the Bots this weekend and won the Think Award. The Think Award qualifies them for the Oklahoma Vex IQ State Championship. Congratulations PickleBotz!

Robotics news: Tomorrow, Feb. 8th: Tournament @ Bixby! Briggs Braves & Maidens are the ORES Division 1 South Area Champions and are headed to STATE!! They will both play on Thursday, Feb. 13th at Dale High School in Shawnee. Girls will play at noon and the boys will play at 6:00 p.m.

8th grade will be sponsoring a SWEETHEART dance for 1st-4th grades on Tuesday, February 25 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The 5th -8th grade dance will be on Thursday, February 27 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Both dances will be in the school cafeteria. The cost to get into the dance will be $5.00 and there will be a concession.

4-H students participated in a Food Showdown on Tuesday, January 28. Briggs had two teams in the junior division and there were 4 junior teams in the competition. Team Indians (John Hiatt and Blakley Hiatt) placed first with their dish. They each received a nice bowl set! Team Blueberries (Sadie Murphy, Cynch Murphy and Blaklee Jones) placed Second and each received a spatula set! Teams were given 4 ingredients to use in their dishes. They did not know what the ingredients were going to be before the competition. They had access to common pantry items of spices and sauces. Way to go Briggs 4-H members!!!

4-H members met on Tuesday to make 24 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and 24 turkey and cheese sandwiches for the Tahlequah Area Coalition of the Homeless. We appreciate the students doing something positive to help those in need in our community!
