Track news:
7th/8th track meet at Fort Gibson today. Bus will leave at 7:55 a.m.
Congratulations to all the 5th & 6th grade track competitors who went to the Tahlequah Arrowhead Track Meet yesterday.
Jovanni Falcon won gold in the Mile Run with a time of 5:31.
6th grade boys mile relay came in 4th . The team included Jovanni Falcon, Josh Meigs, Si Smith and Alex Ryals.
RyanLee Romero received 2nd place in the 5th grade boys shot put.
Reminder:
There are no Soccer games on Monday, March 31st @ Tahlequah. Games were moved to Thursday, April 3rd. Girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and boys will play at 5:45 p.m. We have a 5th-8th Track Meet at Keys on that day.
Adrianna Harjo, Harper Lewis and Trent Kennedy were selected to represent Briggs School in the All-Star Band. Adrianna and Trent play the flute and Harper plays the trumpet. On March 25th, they participated in a regional band clinic and performed at the Performing Arts Center in Tahlequah. This event brought together students from various schools in Oklahoma for musical training and a concert. Briggs School is so very proud of our students! Stay confident and continue to shine!
4-H NEWS:
Blakely and John Hiatt participated in Illustrated Talk as a Team. They received 1st place. Nevaeh Andrade gave a PowerPoint Presentation on her bearded dragon, she received 3rd place. Neveah also did an Impromptu speech (How 4-H has helped my family was the topic she drew out). She received 1st place.
Great job 4-H Club members. You represented Briggs School well.

2025 AMERIND Safety Poster Contest - DEADLINE MARCH 31
Attention artists! Submit your safety themed poster to the UKB Housing Department or your District Representative.
• The winner of each category will receive $100 from the Housing Department.
• Winners will be sent to the regional housing association for regional voting.
• Regional winners from each category are submitted to AMERIND for national voting.
• National online voting. One winner is selected from each category.
• Winners announced at AMERIND Member Business Meeting. The national winner in each category (K-3, 4-6, 7-8) receives $1,000.

4th Grade – 6th Grade
7th Grade – 8th Grade
The theme can be any safety topic: fire safety, driving safety, etc.

Girl's game:
Sydnee Crawford scored first on a direct kick 5 minutes into the game to give Briggs a 1-0 lead. Lilly Garcia received a pass from Brenlei Smith and shot from the 6 yard line to increase the lead to 2-0. Sydnee Crawford then pushed the ball in from 8 yards from a pass from Kaydence Johnston to go up 3-0. Kaydence Johnston then had a put-back goal off of Sydnee's direct kick for a 4-0 whopper. Kaydence got a back to back goal from a pass from Brenlei Smith from 15 yards out making the score 5-0 Briggs. Maryetta was awarded a Penalty Kick to make it 5-1 @ 51 min. Sydnee Crawford scored again from 8 yards off of Holly Vick's throw in to go up 6-1. Lilly Garcia then scored off of their keeper’s mistake at 49:52 to make it 7–1. Kaydence scored on a put back and finished with a Hat Trick from 7 yards, to end the scoring at 8-1.
Boy's game
Jovanni Falcon scored from 12 yards from a pass from Ozziel De La Hoya 2 minutes into the game. Jovanni would score again from a pass from Brenden Holden 6 yards out in the 25th minute to make it 2-0 at the half. Maryetta would score from 12 yards out at the 30 minute mark to make it 2-1. 5 minutes later Briggs would give up a handball in the box and give Maryetta a penalty kick that tied it up 2 to 2. That’s how the game would end in a 2-2 tie.

Many of our families have plans to travel or host friends and relatives over spring break. With various viruses going around locally and globally, it is important to monitor for illness for 21 days upon returning from any travel. If your child becomes sick after returning from travel, contact your health care provider and let them know your child’s symptoms and where they traveled. Specifically, due to cases of Measles reported in Oklahoma, an ongoing outbreak in New Mexico and Texas, and other states across the U.S. reporting measles cases, we encourage you to monitor for any measles symptoms, especially if you have traveled or hosted guests.
The measles vaccine (usually given as a combination vaccine with measles, mumps, and rubella or MMR vaccine) can prevent measles.
It is recommended for all children between 12 and 15 months and again between four and six years of age. If you have an exemption on file for your child, they are still able to receive an MMR vaccine if you choose.

Any 4th - 7th grader interested in trying out for the 2025-26 cheer squad, packets are available for pick up in the front office. Cheer clinic will be March 24th - 27th and try outs will be on March 28th. Both the clinic and try outs will be after school.

Soccer News!
Jovanni Falcon scored less than 30 seconds into the game with Maryetta to give the Braves an early 1-0 lead. Ozziel De la Hoya made it 2 to 0 on a cannon ball that made it past the goalie. Briggs forgot how to play defense and fell behind on three straight Maryetta goals. Brenden Holden knocked in a right foot of 12 yard shot to tie the game right before the half. Ozziel De la Hoya gave Briggs a 4 to 3 lead on a great direct kick over the top of the goalkeeper. Maryetta would get a penalty kick and add another goal to take a 5 to 4 lead with seven minutes left. Briggs would knock in an own goal on Maryetta to tie it 5 to 5 only to give up the game winner with two minutes left in a 6 to 5 loss. Layne Morgan had several good saves and Alejandro Cisneros played a good game for Briggs as well.

SOCCER NEWS!
The Briggs Maidens’ soccer team won 5 to 4 in their opening match in the 2025 season. Lilly Garcia excited the crowd with a great goal for a 1 - 0 lead. After falling behind 2 - 1, Garcia added a second goal just before the half to tie the game up. Bentley Smith gave Briggs the lead in the second half to make it 3 to 2. After Maryetta tied the game at three all, Sydnee Crawford knocked in a direct kick to give the Maidens the lead for good. Kaydence Johnston added an insurance goal with five minutes left and Maryetta knocked in an own goal off of Kadence’s corner kick to end the game at 6 to 3.
